Silas Hansen was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of western New York. He graduated from SUNY College at Brockport in 2010 and earned his MFA in creative nonfiction from The Ohio State University in 2013. He is an assistant professor of creative writing at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and has also taught creative and analytical writing at Ohio State and Columbus College of Art and Design. His essays have appeared in Slate, Colorado Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Normal School, Puerto del Sol, and elsewhere, and have been honored with a notable mention in Best American Essays, the AWP Intro Journals Project Award, and two Pushcart nominations.
