Samuel Cheney

Samuel Cheney is from Centerville, Utah. His poems appear in The American Journal of Poetry, Copper Nickel, The Literary Review, The Missouri Review, Peripheries, Salmagundi, and elsewhere. He has been awarded a 2021 Pushcart Prize, the 2018 Erskine J. Poetry Prize, and scholarships from Bread Loaf, the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and the State of Utah. He has taught at Johns Hopkins University and Stevenson University, worked at the Criterion Collection and Gasser Grunert gallery, and run writing workshops for teens in the Los Angeles Unified School District and at 826LA. He lives in Baltimore, where he is Reginald S. Tickner Fellow at Gilman School, an Assistant Editor of Smartish Pace, and is at work on his debut collection.
