Sabine Heinlein is the author of the narrative nonfiction book Among Murderers: Life After Prison (University of California Press, 2013). She has received a Pushcart Prize, a Margolis Award, an American Literary Review Award, and fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell, and NYFA. Her work can be found in German, American, and British publications, among them The New York Times, The Guardian, Longreads, Die Zeit, Art in America, The Brooklyn Rail, The Iowa Review, Gothamist, Utne Reader, Poets & Writers, Pacific Standard and Psychology Today. She has spoken and read at New York University, New York Public Library, the New School, University of East Anglia, Universität Lüneburg, and at the Bowery Poetry Club. Heinlein holds a master’s degree in journalism from NYU and a master’s in art history from Universität Hamburg.
