PAIGE TOWERS is a creative and freelance writer who earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Emerson College. Her first book, The Sound of Undoing: A Memoir in Essays, is forthcoming from University of Nebraska Press in Spring 2023. Each essay explores a singular sound, some of which are tangible—like the sound of a loon call or a gunshot—and some that are abstract—such as the sound of awakening. While her book contains research on noise pollution, sound art, ASMR, acoustics, hearing and the sonic environment in general, these essays are deeply personal and explore memories and feelings triggered by certain noises
