Monica Sok is an artist, writer, and educator. She is the author of A Nail the Evening Hangs On (Copper Canyon Press, 2020) and the chapbook Year Zero, winner of a 2015 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship, selected by Marilyn Chin. Monica's poetry addresses intergenerational trauma, familial silence, the inheritance of genocide, U.S. imperialism in Cambodia, and the reclamation of history. Her first full-length poetry collection, A Nail the Evening Hangs On, is inspired by her parents' stories of survival during the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979).
