Michael Brandow has written on society, the arts, and canine culture for The New York Times, New York Post, ARTnews, Stagebill, Town & Country, Barron’s, The New Criterion, and Animal Fair. He has been profiled in The New Yorker's "Talk of the Town" and recently wrote a post on the AKC's puppy mill scandal for The BARk's blog. Michael’s latest book is A Matter of Breeding: A Biting History of Pedigree Dogs and How the Quest for Status Has Harmed Man's Best Friend (Beacon Press, 2015). His first book, New York’s Poop Scoop Law: Dogs, the Dirt, and Due Process (Purdue University Press, 2008) was featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Toronto Globe and Mail, The BARk, the English Kennel Club’s Kennel Gazette, and Dog Channel.com. He has been interviewed about pets and people for audiences around the world, including BBC Radio 1 Newshour. As a community leader in New York City, he fought to establish the city's dog parks.
