Laura Jean Baker's poetry and memoir have appeared in The Gettysburg Review; Confrontation; The Connecticut Review; Third Coast; The Cream City Review; Alaska Quarterly Review; So To Speak: A Feminist Journal of Literature and Art; War, Literature, and the Arts: An International Journal of the Humanities; Calyx: A Journal of Art and Literature by Women; and Mount Hope, among others. Her work has been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and her essay “The Year of the Tiger” was named a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2013. Her memoir The Motherhood Affidavits will be released by The Experiment in April 2018. In a countdown to publication, she is keeping a blog by the same name.
