Lara Markstein is a South African born American-New Zealander, now living in Waitohi, Aotearoa. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Harvard University, and received her Masters in Fine Arts from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Her work has appeared in Glimmer Train, Agni Online, The Michigan Quarterly Review, and The Chicago Quarterly Review, among others, and has been recognized by the Bank of New Zealand Katherine Mansfield Short Story Awards, the Sargeson Prize, and the Pushcart awards.
