Kara van de Graaf is a poet and teacher living in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating with a BA from Purdue University, she earned a MFA from University of Pittsburgh, where she was an Irvis Fellow in poetry.

Her awards include an Academy of American Poets Prize, a residency from The Poetry Center of Chicago, and scholarships from the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and The New York State Summer Writers Institute. Poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Best New Poets, The Southern Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Third Coast, and Indiana Review, among others.

Currently, she is a Distinguished Dissertation Fellow at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she is a doctoral candidate in English and a poetry editor for cream city review.
