Judith Hertog

Judith Hertog was born in Amsterdam and moved to Israel as a teenager. After having spent several years in Asia, she settled in Vermont with her family. Judith can communicate in six languages but lost track of who or where she is. She writes to find out. 

Judith is an essayist, journalist, teacher, and storyteller. She also loves photography.

Her essays and journalism has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The Sun, Longreads, Tablet Magazine, Tricycle Magazine, Hotel Amerika, Crab Orchard Review, the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, and many others. Her work has been selected as a "Notable Essay" in Best American Essays 2020.

She has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, The Marble House Project, and The Watermill Center.

Judith studied History and Religion at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She also obtained graduate degrees in journalism and TESOL from Indiana University, and an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College.
