Joseph Ceravelo

In 1959, Joseph Ceravolo had just graduated City College in New York City with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was taking a poetry workshop taught by Kenneth Koch at the New School for Social Research in Manhattan and had begun writing poetry in 1957 while serving in Europe with the US Army. It was while he was stationed in the German Alps on overnight guard duty that he wrote his very first poems.
Joseph Ceravolo was born April 22, 1934 in Astoria, Queens. He was the first son of immigrant parents from Calabria, Italy. He died on September 4, 1988.
