John James is the author of The Milk Hours (Milkweed, 2019), selected by Henri Cole for the Max Ritvo Poetry Prize, as well as two chapbooks: Chthonic, winner of the 2014 CutBank Chapbook Award, and Winter, Glossolalia, forthcoming from Black Spring Press in 2022. His poems appear or are forthcoming in Boston Review, Kenyon Review, Poetry Northwest, Best New Poets 2016, Best American Poetry 2017, and elsewhere, and his work has been supported by the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers Conference, the Academy of American Poets, and Georgetown University's Lannan Center for Poetics and Social Practice. He holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Columbia University, and is completing a PhD in English at the University of California, Berkeley.
