Jo Scott-Coe’s memoir in essays, Teacher at Point Blank, was published in 2010 by Aunt Lute Books. Ms. Magazine selected the book as a “Great Read.”

Her interviews with journalist Richard Rodriguez and novelist/poet/essayist Margaret Atwood appear in Narrative, and her interviews with poets Donna Hilbert and Chiwan Choi appear in The Chiron Review.
Scott-Coe works as an associate professor of English composition, literature, and creative writing at Riverside City College in southern California. She is also an independent researcher on themes of gender, sexuality, and violence–in education and elsewhere. Her writing about an 8-year legal case of student-on-teacher sexual bullying and harassment appears in (Re)Interpretations: The Shapes of Justice in Women’s Experience (Cambridge Scholars Press). She has research related to new primary documents related to the UT Austin shooting forthcoming in Pacific Coast Philology and the anthology, Wives: Roles, Representations, Identities, Work (Demeter Press).
In 2009, Scott-Coe received a Pushcart Special Mention in nonfiction, and her work received Notable listings in Best American Essays 2009 and 2010.
