Gerald Majer's poetry, fiction, and essays have appeared in Callaloo, FIELD, Georgia Review, Puerto del Sol, Quarterly West, Yale Review, and other journals. His literary nonfiction book The Velvet Lounge: On Late Chicago Jazz was published by Columbia University Press. A Pushcart Prize nominee, listed author in the Best American Essays Notable Essays, and winner of several Maryland Arts Council poetry awards, he lives in Baltimore and New Mexico where he pursues a range of collaborative experimental music and theater projects, including the sound-art trio Vibranium Experiments.
