Ge Gao is a Chinese writer based in New York City. She received an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University. Her essays have appeared in The Threepenny Review, Longreads, Hypocrite Reader, Words Without Borders, Twin Cities Daily Planet, and elsewhere. She has received residencies and fellowships from Vermont Studio Center, Atlantic Center for the arts, Sundress Academy for the Arts, Catwalk Artist Residency, Cuttyhunk Island Residency, and Lighthouse Works. In 2020, she was awarded the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Nonfiction Literature. Her essay, "A Survey of My Right Arm," was named Notable in the Best American Essays 2020. She teaches creative writing at Hunter College.
