Emry McAlear

Website

Emry McAlear grew up in Twin Bridges, Montana, and spent most of his time riding his bicycle, rummaging through the town's open pit dump, and fishing in the river that ran through his backyard. As an adult he spent his time working on local cattle ranches and construction sites, and doing just about any odd job that came his way. During his free time, he would ride a few bulls and tell stories in the local bar.

In 2000, Emry moved from Montana to Indianapolis to work as a hospital administrator. After thirteen years of a suit and tie, he quit working and started writing nonfiction essays about the people he's known throughout his life.

Emry completed his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2015.
