Born in Denver and raised in Colorado, Mexico, and Peru, E. J. [Edward James] Myers attended Grinnell College and the University of Denver. He has worked in a wide variety of professions and trades, including inpatient health care, emergency medical services, carpentry, cabinetmaking, publishing, and freelance writing. He is the author of forty-four published books, most issued by mainstream companies, among them four novels (THE MOUNTAIN MADE OF LIGHT, FIRE AND ICE, THE SUMMIT, and LAST THINGS); fourteen children’s books; and a well-received, much-reprinted book about bereavement, WHEN PARENTS DIE: A GUIDE FOR ADULTS. He has also co-authored or ghostwritten over a dozen books for clients or other authors. He lives with his wife in central Vermont.
