Deborah Cummins is the author of an essay collection, Here and Away: Discovering Home on an Island in Maine (2012), two collections of poetry, Counting the Waves (2006) and Beyond the Reach (2002), and a poetry chapbook, From The Road It Looks Like Paradise (1997). Her poems and essays have appeared in several anthologies and in numerous journals and magazines including Fourth Genre, The Yale Review, New England Review, TriQuarterly and Orion. Her poetry has also been featured on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac and in the American Life in Poetry syndicated newspaper column. Her numerous recognitions include James Michener and Donald Barthelme fellowships, the Washington Prize in Fiction, the Headwaters Literary Prize and multiple awards and fellowships from the Illinois Arts Council.
