Danny Penny

Danny Penny is an essayist, journalist, and poet pursuing an MFA in creative nonfiction at Columbia University, interested in careers in publishing, journalism, digital media, and arts education.

Danny is the winner of a Creative Writing Nonfiction Teaching Fellowship for the fall of 2015. His writing has won the 2012 Norton Writer's Prize, the 2013 Lorabel Richardson American Academy of Poets Prize. He is also the runner-up for the 2013 Selden Whitcomb Poetry Prize, a finalist for the Brooklyn Nonfiction Prize, and a semifinalist for the 2013 Norman Mailer College Nonfiction Writing Prize. His work has appeared in Slice Magazine, Cereal Magazine, The New Inquiry, The Rumpus, Nat. Brut, Art Observed, and other publications.
