Alexis Schaitkin is a writer of fiction and essays. Her debut novel, SAINT X, is forthcoming from Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan, in 2019, with UK, German, Dutch, Italian, French, and Spanish editions to follow. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Virginia, where she was a Henry Hoyns Fellow. Her stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Southern Review, Ecotone, and The Best American Nonrequired Reading, among others. Her essays have been listed as notable in The Best American Essays and The Best American Travel Writing. She lives in Williamstown, Massachusetts, with her husband, the historian Mason B. Williams, and her son.
