Adam Hammer was born in 1948 in New Jersey. He studied at Emerson College, the University of Massachusetts, the University of California Santa Barbaram Colorado State University and Bowling Green State University, from which he received a PhD in popular culture. He died in a head-on collision with a truck outside Pensacola, Florida in 1984.
