Morwari Zafar

Morwari Zafar is an international security consultant and a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Oxford. Her research at Oxford’s Centre on Migration, Policy and Society examines the role of the Afghan-American diaspora in producing cultural knowledge for the U.S. military’s counterinsurgency effort in Afghanistan. She is an affiliate of the Oxford Diaspora Programme, and a visiting scholar at George Washington University's Institute for Global and International Studies. Morwari has been published in Al Jazeera America, Foreign Policy, Time, and Granta. She holds a MA in anthropology from George Washington University and a BA in English from the University of Puget Sound.
