Melissa Hunter Gurney

Melissa Hunter Gurney is a Brooklyn based independent writer as well as the founder/publisher/editor of GAMBAZine. She is connected to the artist life as seen throughout South America and writes for La Gente Descalza (The Barefoot People). At the moment she is working on a collection of creative non-fiction called Photographs of a Mind in Heat and a novel called La Gente Descalza. She has been published in various independent magazines and curates GAMBA Z's Artist Salons which take place monthly at Lucky Luna NY - a gallery space, restaurant, bar and art house. She believes in daily creation and writes at least 3-5 pages everyday in hopes of collecting the inner workings of one/many human beings whether the platform is fiction or truth.

Outside of her writing and publishing career she is an educator, instructional coach, curriculum writer and art liaison at Frances Perkins Academy, a Brooklyn high school with an arts and media focus.
