Irina Dumitrescu received her BA in English literature from the University of Toronto and her PhD from Yale. She was a visiting scholar at Columbia before beginning her first job as an assistant professor at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She was then an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin, and is now Professor of English Medieval Studies at the University of Bonn.
