Eli Connaughton

Eli Connaughton was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. After working as an art director in New York City for 12 years, she moved back home with her son where she works as a freelance graphic designer, illustrator and writer.

Eli graduated from the University of Georgia and completed her MFA in Creative Writing at Sarah Lawrence College. She has attended Breadloaf Writers Conference where she was recently nominated for a tuition scholarship.

She is currently working on a memoir, and has published several excerpts in Carolina Quarterly, Harpur Palate, Cimarron Review, and others. Her essay, “Burial,” was published in Alligator Juniper as the winner of its National Creative Writing prize in creative nonfiction. She was a winner of South Carolina Arts Commission fiction award and one of her essays has recently been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
