Daniel Lusk is author of The Vermeer Suite (forthcoming, Wind Ridge, 2015), which features poems based on the masterpieces of 17th Century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer with full-color-images of the works that inspired them.

Other books by the poet include a memoir, Girls I Never Married (Wind Ridge, 2014), and recent poetry collections KIN (Wind Ridge, 2013),Lake Studies: Meditations on Lake Champlain (Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, 2011), a companion audiobook on CD, The Inland Sea: Reflections, and Kissing the Ground: New & Selected Poems (Onion River, 1999).

Girls I Never Married, is Daniel's memoir about becoming a poet. KIN, his most recent poetry collection, features poems inspired by wildlife encountered while living at the edge of wilderness in Vermont.

Books by Daniel Lusk also include Onion River: Six Vermont Poets, three chapbooks—The Cow Wars, Poems, 1982, and Wild Onions—O, Rosie, a novel, and Homemade Poems: A Handbook. His work has appeared in dozens of literary journals and anthologies, among them New Letters, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Ireland, The Southern Review, The Beloit Poetry Journal, The Chariton Review, American Poetry Review, The North American Review, and 180 More: Extraordinary Poems for Every Day (Billy Collins, Editor.).

Winner of a 2016 Pushcart Prize, he has also received the Gertrude B. Claytor Memorial Award of the Poetry Society of America for a poem on the American scene, and a Pablo Neruda Poetry Award by Nimrod International Journal. His poetry has been among finalists in national and international competitions that include The National Poetry Series; the Dana Awards; James Hearst Poetry Prize, North American Review (Honorable Mention); Tupelo Press Dorset and Snowbound Prizes; The Comstock Review Poetry Prize (Special Merit); Anhinga Poetry Prize, Anhinga Press; Ann Stanford Prize, Southern California Anthology (Honorable Mention); Oberon Poetry Prize (Honorable Mention); Elixir Poetry Prize; and the River Styx Poetry Prize (Honorable Mention).

He has been awarded grants and literary fellowships from the Vermont Arts Council, Vermont Arts Endowment and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He has been Visiting Poet at Stranmillis University College-Queens in Belfast, N.I., and The Frost Place, Franconia. N.H., and a Resident Fellow at Yaddo and The MacDowell Colony. In 2009, he received an innovative research grant from the University of Vermont to work on the cycle of poems about Lake Champlain that became Lake Studies.

Daniel has presented readings of his work at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Smithsonian Institution, and Renwick Gallery (Washington, D.C.), and other venues, among them state universities of Missouri, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota and Vermont. A Senior Lecturer in English Emeritus of the University of Vermont, he is available for poetry readings, workshops, and master classes for teachers.
